A ringed planet and a burning red world drift past one another in cold blue space. An exercise in awe.
The story behind the work
I have never seen space except in pictures, which is exactly why I wanted to paint it — to render a longing rather than a fact. A ringed planet hangs serene while a red world burns into frame, moons scattered like dropped coins. The cosmos does not care about us, and there is a strange relief in that. These paintings are where I go to feel small on purpose.
