Pale towers rise from black water inside a burning red sphere. An abstract city suspended between dream and warning.
The story behind the work
My most abstract work — a skyline that is not any real city, painted with a knife inside a single red eye of light. The towers reflect into black water; the whole thing floats in void. I painted it fast, standing up, letting the palette knife decide. It reads to some as a sunrise over a future metropolis and to others as a city under a red alert. I am happy to let it stay both.
